Occupation: Psychotherapist Karen Giles is a licensed clinical social worker providing individual, couples and group psychotherapy at Us Helping Us, People Into Living, Inc. She holds a Masters in Social Work, with a specialization in Mental Health from the University of Maryland, which she received in 2001. In 2000, she received her BA cum laude in Social Work at Bowie State University. In 2009 she completed a three year Advanced Psychotherapy Training Program at the Washington School of Psychiatry. In addition to providing direct services, Ms. Giles provides supervision for the Case Management Program and the Psychosocial Support Program. She has over 8 year’s postgraduate clinical experience. She helps individuals with a wide variety of issues and assists them in gaining a deeper understanding of their feelings, thoughts and behavior. In addition to specializing in the provision of services for the LGBT community, she has a small private practice and has experience working with individuals who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, and domestic violence. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a member of the Washington School of Psychiatry. |
