Did You Know...

A DC study of 500 gay men found that HIV prevalence among Black gay men 30 years old and older was 32% and the rate for men under 30 was 12%.  Yet, the Black gay men in the study reported using condoms 50% more than the white gay men.  Sexual active Black gay men in the District should get a HIV test at least three or four (3 - 4) times a year.  Us Helping Us provides free HIV counseling and testing, Monday thru Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.  Call 202 446-1100 for more information.

HIV Vaccine Research

Something You Should Know!

Every 10 minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV. A preventive vaccine against HIV offers the best long-term hope to end this worldwide epidemic. Finding a safe and effective HIV vaccine that will protect people is a huge task. It cannot be done without your help.

Us Helping Us is committed to being part of the fight to prevent and protect against HIV and AIDS infection.  Please join us in this fight!

UHU community engagement campaign: The disproportion of number of new infections for African Americans vs. whites is staggering and sadly so is the low number of African Americans who get involved in vaccine research trials. In order to increase community involvement in vaccine research, UHU launched a social marketing campaign contest.  Individuals were asked to find ways convey the need individuals to be involve in HIV/AIDS vaccine awareness.  The contest winner’s image will be displayed on this site!  Look for it!
